Where can I download GTA2?

GTA2 (DrSlony’s rip) - gta2.7z [filesize 17.8MB]
I recommend downloading this small version instead of the one below. This version includes the important patches and GTA2 Power Manager. It is only missing the intro movie and the music but neither are important to the gameplay or story. You need 7-zip or WinRAR to uncompress it.

You should only download this version if you really want to hear the music. There is a longer and better version of the GTA2 live action intro movie on youtube.com and GTA2.com.

GTAMP.com’s GTA2 patches - 1MB - Everyone should use this patch. It includes the best version of gta2.exe, the resolution patch, fixes to the multiplayer Industrial scripts (floating ambulances) and it also includes the singleplayer GTA2 trailer kill frenzy save game fix.

GTA2 tools/editors:

GTA2 Map Editor - 1MB - The official GTA2 map editor. This map editor works best on Windows 98 with desktop color quality set to 16 bit. It works on Windows XP but there are tile display bugs, top down view doesn’t display and the built in zone editor just crashes (there is a working Zone Editor below). You shouldn’t add objects with the map editor because it will only cause crashes. Objects should be added using GTA2 script.

nyc.gci - GTA2’s default car handling file. You need this if you changed the car handling and want to play multiplayer. All players need the same car handling file.

GTA2_svge11c.zip - GTA2 Saved Game Editor 1.1c (GTA2_SVGE)
This program will let you edit many aspects of your GTA2 saved game files (*.svg). It will let you enable any gun with any amount of ammo, set money levels, health, lives and the multiplier, as well as turning on the 4 powerups. It was created by Harry Denholm .

GTA2 Zone Editor - The GTA2 map editor can’t edit zones under Windows XP. Use this tool to edit them.

gta2formats.zip - 25KB - the official GMP map and STY style file format technical documentation from DMA Design. You don’t need this for making maps. This is just for coders who want to make a map editor or GTA2 clone.

There are several mistakes in the manual. The multiplayer section sounds like they are describing GTA1, you can’t select a character in GTA2. The error is mentioned on the Xplosiv support site and used to be on the take2games.com support site.

GTAForums.com - English forum. The modern GTA sections are very popular but the old school forum doesn’t get many posts anymore. I am a moderator in the old school section.

Polish and English GTA2 forum - The most active GTA2 forum. The majority of posts are in Polish but there is an English section. Last time I checked, their host has some really annoying popups, so use some ad blockers.
