Re: New game: Top down city!
Open-top cars, this is already implemented, you can see the logic working for bikes. There is a flag for this in vehicles sqlite table (but not in the old version) It would be great if this could have an effect on gameplay. if the canopy is open you should be able to shoot with your hand gun but al...

Re: OpenGTA2?
i was searching for releases quite thorowly back then but i dont remember any details anymore. if you want to find every release i suggest researching what once existed and then if you cannot find downloads anymore to ask on retro forums and subreddits

Re: OpenGTA2?
this is a huge undertaking and very difficult to automate. however there are some new approaches for disassemblers that use machine learning which look very promising. i think effort is best spent in improving those tools and adapting it to the build environment gta2 was made with. decompiling will ...

Re: New game: Top down city!
will it support cmp/gmp, sty and raw files from gta1&2 natively? this could give modding a great head start. it would be great if it worked like one of the doom engines that just need one of the many wad files available

Re: Making a new district in gta2
the Epic GTA2 Map Editor is also very useful to move the position and change the sizes of scripting items. afaik it requires an mmp file though. also, working on a multiplayer map is over all more streamlined and faster to work with because the .mmp file can contain more information and you dont hav...

Re: Chaos% mod project
another way to quickly get results is playing with the car physics. for example setting antistrength to a high value results in cars exploding with a single hit which make collisions very unforgivable

Re: Chaos% mod project
The issue here is that I'm not sure how to access those debug options by script, so this is where I ask if anyone has advice here. Depends on how you want to activate them. afaik all of them are registry values and i think for changes to take effect you have to restart the game. if you want to chan...

occasionally the videos take a while to buffer but the site itself loads a lot faster. it is just a few kb and doesnt even require javascript to be turned on.

Re: New game: Top down city!
that is basically how mototovs work. for further distinction i would suggest a bigger range and aiming with camera zoom or pan. it would be fun if you could also use it in a handgeld mode where you fire it horizontally and the grenades explode a quarter of a second after the first collision so you c...

Re: New game: Top down city!
An objective radar would be nice, one that shows only the target area on radar and specifies target. Distance on arrows sounds like good idea too, i might have multiple, various options availible on how to hande this, but i dont think a road sign system would work good, it could fail depending on r...
