D E S C R I P T I O N
The Empire, among other US models from AV, was about the only
competition for Cadillac in the 50s and 60s. While BMW and Mercedes
were busy producing little economy cars in Germany, and Rolls Royce
was living off the word of yesterday, Cadillac and AV USA were battling
outright. Wider, lower and longer, it seemed as though it would never
stop. Cadillac's peak of extravagance was the El Dorado. AV's was the
Empire. The Empire featured a choice of two engines - a 5.0 litre V8 or
a 8.0 litre V12. Oh yes, they chew it up alright!
