1m away from monitor and i already cant read this text here.

My eyes get better if i dont use PCs and of course they say that you must take small breaks from computer and look somewhere far far away, into specific point, this should do good as they say.
Maybe you're myopic or astigmatic? Did you ever get that checked out? Myopia usually doesn't just come with birth, although the tendency to develop it does, so you won't notice you may be a little myopic when you're young, but it progresses with age. I used not to notice it so much, but ever since like two years ago I noticed I can't see very well stuff that is far away (fuck's sake, I can't properly see something about 2 meters away, and I'm not even exaggerating) and have been officially diagnosed with myopia a few weeks ago and now I'm wearing glasses. And it's surely not just because I spend most of my time using the computer, but mostly for genetic reasons.

Of course, it's always recommended to take periodic breaks from the computer, not only because your eye may get tired (but most likely not damaged), but also because staying in (mostly) the same position for a long time is rather not a good idea. But yes there's this "20-20 rule" which says that for every 20 minutes you spend on the computer (or just doing something that requires that you focus your eyes on something near), you then spend 20 seconds focusing on something farther away (a.k.a. the "20-20-20 rule" where for every 20 minutes you spend on the computer, you spend 20 seconds focusing on something 20 feet away, but screw imperial measurements). But yeah spending a long time will usually just get your eyes tired, not seriously damage it or give you myopia/astigmatism.

I dont believe computer screens can damage eyes.

Instead, here is what i can think of:

1) Vitamins (needed to repair your body, reduces headache and other pains).
2) Tiredness (causes head/eye ache from bright light).
3) Infections (sore eyes, head/eye ache).
4) Depression/lazy brain (visual processing weaker, coffee and other brain activity boosting methods increases the visual information processing, and thus makes your eyesight sharper).
5) Lazy eye (one of the eyes have worser vision, or cannot focus correctly for some reason, so brain has issues on focusing correctly, eventually the other eye becomes completley blind and uncontrollable).

Although, if you have spent your childhood from 20cm away from the screen (or books) 24/7, then there might be some physical problems with eyes.

One more idea...

When i watch blurred screens for long time, it actually makes my eyes hurt. CRT's are blurred always. And i think it actually makes my sight worser if i watch blurred screens for long time, because my eyes tries to learn new way of seeing, it doesnt know how to focus properly anymore, since its all blurred no matter how you focus, so your eyes get lazy and forget about focusing... thats probably what happened to you. I suggest buying LCD screen.

When you switch to LCD, you obviously feel shocked because you arent used to that kind of detail, your brains need to re-learn seeing again, kind of.

Its also possible to teach your eyes to focus better, without buying new glasses every year. Though, it only works to some extent. Bad eyesight makes your head hurt anyways. So if its so bad, get new glasses!

Internet gets larger every moment, you want us to add one more page into it? What do you think will happen, if everyone did the same? Soon there will be no space for new pages at all, and then what we do? Start a new internet and destroy it too? I dont think so. Act now, conserve the pages and save the internet!

So I'm checking out this forum again and holy shit my threads from when I was 13yo make me cringe so hard :D

But what's even funnier is the fact that I am nearsighted now. Maybe I should have spent more attention to your guys discussion about Myopia and your advices about spending time in front of a computer a bit more in detail :D

Welcome back! It is weird reading my old posts too, especially some that I don’t remember writing. I wonder what the oldest message I wrote on a forum would be. Maybe it was on the Team17 Worms forum but that is long gone.

My gtaforums.com account is from January 28, 2003.
