DMA Design GTA2 development behind the scenes

theres a guy on youtube who managed to tack down former DMA Design employees and ask them questions and revealing how gta2's trailer was shot behind the scenes

did any one know that gta2's famous yellow car cover was taken from the top of empire state building in new york, they just shot a random car haha

but far as they say, gta2 is noting more than moving gta1 timeline 5 mins forward and basically fixing the gameplay and bugs of gta1
GTA2 part of the video

That's pretty much what they did - upgrade gta1 to gta2. Even file formats are very similar.

A lot of people misunderstood what gta meant to be.. at its time it was probably one of biggest worlds you could explore and interact with, that was the point. Game worlds in that era were really small.

Very very good video!
It would be great if they could pass the 3D renderings of the vehicles, and the characters of the 3D artworks

Downloaded.

Haha., Colin MacDonald

Probably author of GTA2 Map format.doc

Because Office shows his details in this file.

CDS.doc is Keith Hamilton job.

Nice to see GTA1/GTA2 guys.

My most favorite game (GTA2). No kidding

haha yes its funny to actually find such stuff and see Colin MacDonald say "gta 1 was pretty much unplayable"- its so true

edit: im so jealous of the dev team that worked in dma design, i would give anything for me to go back in time somehow and give my hand and knowledge to work on such game
they made history for my opinion, gta2 is like half life 1 and such games that broke records of all times, thats crazy

Interesting history, I wasn't checking twitter very often, so I missed it. At least they saved some stuff, sad they destroyed a lot when moving.
