I discovered a technique where if you lightly flick the fire button while running with grenades you'll throw the grenade onto yourself, before it stops moving & falls behind you. The grenade can also be slightly slung in front of you if you turn away from it. Dropping the grenades behind you can be useful for people or cars chasing you. It can be difficult to pull off however.

cool, it only happened a few times on accident for me. this makes them more useful

That was my thought, they're way more useful knowing how to do this
