Gta2maps Site

Post by Razor »

Hi, I started the project "GTA2 Maps" that is nothing but fully automated website used to simple add maps.
I am a beginner in MySQL/PHP coding so I didn`t do so much.

What I have done:

1. Site temple:
siteshoot.PNG
2. MySql Database
3. Some basic functions like sending querys

Fortunately satinesmith wants to help me. What means I will help him becouse he knows that all things better than me :)

What we plan to do:

1. Map add form will contain:
- Name
- Type:
*Original
*Arena
*Town
*Teams/Tasks
*Race
*Remake
- Size: (S M L XL XXL XXXL) size of the map.
- Nightmode:
* day only
* night & day
Id - its my idea to add to mmp file unique "ID" line. That can help a lot with GH future frathures like autodownload map (ofc site will have ID checker and refuse to add map with ID that alredy exist in database).
- Description
- File
- Images (like 3 screenshots)

2. Mini profiles:
Everyone will have a information in his profile like:
- Maplist created by him + avereges
- Favorite list
- Comments
- Average of marking
- Basic information like Nick, Location, GH nick etc.

3. Seatch engine

4. Top 10 maps (by downloads number & ratings)

5. Mail notyfications (recent maps) / Subscripe

6. Stats

7. Some tutorials, help pages

8. Set up a bot with MYSQL script than will have some functions like:
- Bot will check every X minutes recently added map and display results
Some bot commands:
!recent - list of X recent maps
!top - list of X top maps
!random - random map
!search - searching
!author "name" - list of maps maded by "author"

and others :)

These are the initial assumptions. Any other ideas?

Sounds like a great idea. :D

Ultimate solution/option would be to be able to download maps from your site with gtamp and it auto installs the map. :D

And perhaps, from within gtamp click on a map to get more info from your website or that it goes to your website with more info. :D

Perhaps also set up a virtual pc on your webhosting that runs the map viewer from trademark to make automatic images.

List of every weapon that can be found on the map. It could show the weapon pictures and you tick checkboxes to say if they are on the map. Ideally it would read it automatically from the .mis file.

A column that shows if the .mis file is included.

Sounds like GTA Garage but smaller, focused, detailed and automated. Huge amount of work. Maybe something useful by this time next year?

It will be a lot of work but I hope to release a beta within 4 to 6 weeks. This however will just feature the very basic features like adding maps. There are so many things I can think of to build though.

How about a designer's help on this? ;) The current design looks like 90's. How about this?

That looks realy nice. I would like to use that design.
Do you do XHTML/CSS too or just design?

@Razor,
What do you think about it?

How about a custom logo?

Example:

That looks really great. Both design and logo. I would be satisfied with this layout and would be very happy to use it.
I'm not much of a designer so this is more then welcome!

If Shazdeh could also build/make the XHTML/CSS files I would be most happy.

Here is a larger version of the logo I made, I guess you know how to proper resize an image (and use .png format to keep quality) :)

//edit: if you like, I can give you vector file and you can adjust it (like colors)

I can do so but maybe it comes in handy for Shazdeh to upload the vector file so he can burn it into his XHTML/CSS files.

It doesn't have to be done that fast. The website won't be done within two weeks or more. It would give me the chance to implement the system into the design though.

Tanx guys, ill add you to the credits.
