Re: Bootcamp Team Capture the Vehicle v1.08

Sorry, this is gonna be a bit negative. Boxes on tarmac look stupid and so does a church in the middle of an army "war games" arena type situation. Also, boxes in no-man's land are too tight. APC is nearly a full cube wide! Also, if you respawn at rockets you cannot make a last-second shot...

Re: Bootcamp Team Capture the Vehicle v1.07

I was thinking the non-garage side might be good as a sort of storage area. Could have containers and ammo boxes, maybe a fuel tank. Would enable attackers and defenders to dodge and fight a bit more when inside the base. Helps make the direction to garage even clearer as all roads and driveways poi...

Or rename this category to be more general and somewhat active. (Instead of having two rarely categories.)

I've been testing this with Pyro and it's already quite fun and balanced. Very promising start!

Re: Updated forum software to phpBB3 v3.0.7

Some aspects are a bit heavy-handed while others are delicious, imho. Avatar and join date stuff isn't relevant to me. Person's name is just above their text now, which is neat. Dunno why phpBB insists on having a redundant "Subject" on every message though. You're replying to a topic, tha...

Re: Code Snippets Discussion

Normally someone posts an idea or a script, people comment and improve it. Then the original message gets updated. Or it adds a link to a web page which published a tutorial about it. Anyway, let's try your way out: I have a comment on the above player passenger script. How do I add my thoughts to t...

Re: Pyro's Old GTA2 Stuff...

The files would be self-describing if they were in one folder per level or experiment. That downloads includes lots of generic stuff and stuff which Pyro didn't make. Please take it down until that's sorted out. Especially remove the stuff from MultiSlayer. I want to avoid any more version confusion...

Re: TradeMark's GTA2 Map Editor (0.5.28) (Only zone editor a

The editor tells me my GTA2 path is not set. But I have GTA2 installed from a CD and Game Hunter knows the path. So is the editor forgetting to look for all the registry keys which might store it? GTA2 v11.3 put settings in a different branch is that accounted for? I'm getting a stable 21 FPS while ...

Re: WIP - Bootcamp Team Capture the Vehicle

Great updates, Pyro! Looks like you could survive a fall from the stairs to the top of a box outside the building. Could be a neat shortcut. Make sure fences allow bullets through, so people can use Molotovs as artillery (molo-sniping). Also, I think you should allow walking past the coastal side of...

Re: GTA2 v11.3

Custom .gci isn't working when I use Play Alone from Game Hunter. It does work when I Create Game using a .mmp with PlayerCount = 1.

Would be nice if it worked in both places. Or even without going through Game Hunter.

Re: WIP - Bootcamp Team Capture the Vehicle

I would expect any multiplayer level to be substantially rebuilt at least 3 times from its first release to its final release. Have you seen the army base in Capital City? That's using ste.sty and looks quite varied. Added a few more building ideas to previous list for numbering. Most of my suggests...

Re: WIP - Bootcamp Team Capture the Vehicle

Which texture number did you use to create ladders into the watchtowers? They are brilliant! Is it a fence applied to the next block over, then rotated and made Flat? Fantastic attention to the edges of grass, roads and rooves. Nice to see some trees and some interesting use of shadows. Restarting i...

Re: Feature request: Making GTA2 speed detached from FPS.

Might be feasible for single player? In multiplayer, GTA2 links FPS to Internet connection speed to ensure everyone sees exactly the same action for every frame. That's why split-second timing of shooting and dodging is so essential to victory in GTA2.

Re: Pyro's Old GTA2 Stuff...

Good to see you back. Your old levels were a real treasure chest of ideas! Many could be incorporated into playable levels. That takes dozens of test games and re-releases to achieve, though. Awesome to have our grubby mitts on the files, though! If any of them are releasable, you could ask Sektor t...

Re: Rocket Wars 4 Ever

Also happens if you grab a weapon within 1 second of the game loading. Every start point must be at least 1 or 1.5 blocks from any weapon.

Zooka Arena with lots of players has this problem for Player 1 or Player 2 start point, IIRC.
